LETHAL AFFECTION Debuts ‘Frozen In Time’ Official Video

The New Jersey melodic metal collective Lethal Affection have issued their brand new Official Video for the song ‘Frozen In Time‘. The single appears on the band’s upcoming full-length album “Choose A Side” due out this fall. “Choose A Side” was recorded at Conclave Studios in Manhattan, produced by Corey Pierce of God Forbid, and mixed by Christopher “Zeuss” Harris.

The band was founded five years ago in New Brunswick, N.J. by guitarists Joe Percario and Nick Kashmanian who were then joined by lead vocalist Noah Simon. Soon, the missing piece was added when drummer Cameron Rozell came on board and this high-energy metal outfit was set into motion. Structured with shredding guitar, heavy grooves, and operatic vocals, Lethal Affection have created a powerfully appealing body of work. This new video clip, as well as its Lyric Video predecessor, ‘Taste Of Anarchy‘ (streaming below) do well in establishing the band’s fierce technicality.

VERMILION WHISKEY Issue ‘Come Find Me’ Lyric Video

Southern Louisiana’s even more southerner hard rockers Vermilion Whiskey have just offered their latest batch of their finest distilled rock ‘n roll for our consumption. The band’s new Official Lyric Video for their track ‘Come Find Me‘ is fermented and aged with righteous riffery and intoxicating rhythms. With vocals drenched in soulful tones and intensely inflected emotion, the song is a fine representation of that inebriating elixer that is Vermilion Whiskey.

If you are so late to the party that you still have not picked up the band’s blues ‘n boozy collection of tunes on ‘Spirit Of Tradition‘ (out now!) then shame on you. It’s blue collar rock through and through as the fine example above, ‘Come Find Me‘, goes down so smoothly when consumed responsibly.

BLOODCLOT (Past/Present Cro-Mags, QoTSA, Danzig, Etc. Members) Reveal Debut Artwork & Tour

The revival of the band Bloodclot is something I have been extremely excited about since I first learned it was happening awhile back. Not only because the iconic vocalist John Joseph of Cro-Mags fame has reactivated the band but because of who has joined him in this latest incarnation of it. Alongside him in Bloodclot circa 2017 are guitarist Todd Youth (Youth Of Today, Warzone, Murphy’s Law), drummer Joey Castillo (ex-Queens of the Stone Age, Blast!, Sugartooth) and bassist Nick Oliveri (ex-Queens of the Stone Age, Dwarves, Mondo Generator)! The band has announced that their upcoming album, ‘Up In Arms‘, is due to be released on July 14th via Metal Blade Records. A Lyric Video for the album’s title track is streaming below and Joseph recently commented on the band’s mission statement more or less saying:

“In this band we’re doing what each of us have always done: give it our all,” John Joseph states plainly. “We work hard, and we have a lot to say. Look around the planet – people are fed up with the corrupt ruling class. They destroy the planet and kill millions for profit, and the formula for our response is simple: Anger + applied knowledge = results. Don’t just bitch. Change it.”

VANGOUGH ‘Warpaint’ Review & Album Stream

Oklahoma City’s Vangough recently released their latest studio effort ‘Warpaint‘ and the accolades have mounted ever since. Rightly so too because this, the band’s fifth studio album (along with an EP and live album as well) is yet another leap light years ahead for Progressive Rock as a whole. Cut from a similar cloth as acts like Soen, Opeth or Dream The Electric Sleep, the music of Vangough is founded on technicality and emotion. Forward-thinking musical expanses constructed on the juxtaposition of differing styles of sonics is what ‘Warpaint‘ is all about. Guitarist/vocalist Clay Withrow, bassist Jeren Martin and drummer Kyle Haws embed massive amounts of feeling and experimentation into these songs.

Exposure begins with the darkly-hued introductory track ‘Morphine‘, a heavy-handed song that shudders with powerful bass lines. Stitched with intricate guitar melodies, things soon take on more melodic elements before erupting into caustic sections of a more aggressive nature. Near song’s end things have dissolved into some truly heavy sonics, ones augmented with guttural vocalizations and crushing density. Shifting intensities, alternating energy levels and multifaceted diversity permeates songs like ‘Dust‘, ‘Gravity‘ and the powerful ‘Till Nothing’s Left‘. The latter a somewhat Tool-like trek into soul-jarring music that’s followed by one of the more haunting tunes of the record, ‘Knell‘. Quite sedate and even, dare I say it, more stripped down, the song pulsates with haunting nuances that bleed like an open wound. Things end with the eleven minute-plus ‘Black Rabbit‘, a track where everything presented prior culminates in this stellar, stand-alone song. Epic and sweeping, this ending song is perhaps my favorite of the album..the drumming alone is mind-blowing too. It is definitely a highlight where the trio pull out all the stops and strut their stuff so to speak.

In closing, it is easy to see, and hear, why Vangough are so well respected and why ‘Warpaint‘ is such an increasingly popular record. Also, it is no wonder they astounded audiences at ProgPower USA XV in 2014 and why people clamor to see the band live when they can. ‘Warpaint‘ is a contrasting, temperamental opus that possesses riveting music and enthralling content in general. Regardless if you are or aren’t a fan of progressive metal, this album will astound you and make you a fan of Vangough period. – Pat Riot Whitaker
