Just days after announcing their amicable split with guitarist Pete Adamshere, progressive metallers Baroness have given us a proper introduction to their newest member, Gina Gleason. That introduction to the new guitarist is being made via two rehearsal room video clips for the songs ‘Chlorine And Wine‘ and ‘Morningstar‘. It goes without saying that Gina is, or must be, an incredibly talented player to have so readily stepped into the Baroness spotlight at this time. Plus, she is also adding a new element to the beloved act…female vocal parts. The band’s well respected, revered status within the metal/music community is enough to put the sensation of pressure on anyone but she seems to be right at home in the insightful peeks below. Judge for yourself…
Norway’s avant garde oldschool black metal experimentalists Carpathian Forest have announced they will return with a new album, ‘Likskue‘, sometime in 2018. The iconic, legendary band has been on a lengthy hiatus for several years and have not released a new studio album since 2006’s Fuck You All!!!! Caput tuum in ano est. To share the news of their imminent return, Carpathian Forest have issued a rehearsal/rough video of them performing the defunct U.S. cult garage band Dead Moon’s ‘A Fix On You‘. Check it out below.
Narcotic-like noise mongers Drug Honkey are preparing to unleash their new offering, ‘Cloak Of Skies‘, via Transcending Obscurity on May 5th. The pre-release hype for the punishing delivery of sonic abuse is reaching a fevered pitch of late. The album, which features guest appearances by the godfather of bleakness, Justin Broadrick and saxophonist most sinister, Bruce Lamont, is the baddest of trips seemingly. With crushing despair and abundant psychedelic savagery , Drug Honkey are poised to scar lives forever.
Today, Drug Honkey are serving up their video for the song ‘Sickening Wastoid‘, which is its very own frightening hallucination thanks to the twisted mind of Paolo Girardi. The morphing, animated album art from ‘Cloak Of Skies‘ appears alive and threateningly menacingly in the clip. Prepare to experience something you cannot un-see once you have your third eye opened to this vile visualizer.
For my own take on Drug Honkey‘s ‘Cloak Of Skies‘, check out my review of it over at Riff Relevant.

The Texas-based rock ‘n roll terrors Broken Teethwill return with a brand new album, ‘4 On The Floor‘, for the EMP Label Group this Friday, April 21st. The bluesy, high energy rock band which features singer Jason McMaster of such iconic acts as Dangerous Toys, Watchtower, Ignitor and Evil United, is one of underground music’s best kept secrets. Now, after 20 years of fierce live shows and a string of stellar album releases, Broken Teeth are poised for their breakthrough to a much larger audience. That will undoubtedly be helped in part with their teaming with EMP Label Group and their founders, Megadeth bassist David Ellefson and former Corporate Punishment President Thom Hazaert.
Ellefson commented: “I’ve had my eyes and ears on Broken Teeth for a few years now and have a history with singer Jason McMaster. It was only a matter of time until I found a way to partner with them. Given their reputation as a crushing live act, along with their previous string of classic, underground hard-rock albums, I couldn’t be more proud to welcome Broken Teeth to the EMP family and help them share their music with an even wider audience.”
“4 On The Floor”
“All Or Nothin'”
“Borrowed Time (W.O.M.G.)”
“House Of Damnation”
“Let The War Machine Roll”
“All Day Sucker”
Broken Teeth specialize in gritty, balls-out rock n’ roll best described as “AC/DC on amphetamine” in my opinion and ‘4 On The Floor‘ is sure to impress. That impressing can now begin with the Official Video for the new album’s title track streaming below.
Broken Teeth is:
Jason McMaster – vocals Jared Tuten – guitar Bruce Rivers – drums David Beeson – guitar Robb Lampman – bass
One of 2017’s most anticipated album releases is the long awaited return of NYC’s Life Of Agony who will drop ‘A Place Where There’s No More Pain‘ via Napalm Records on April 28. Their first new studio offering in twelve years sees the iconic hardcore/alt. rock band returning with the next step in their musical evolution. Early release material, such as this new Official Video from the band for the song ‘World Gone Mad‘, sees them continuing the same melodic-tinged hard rock of earlier releases like Ugly (1995) and Soul Searching Sun (1997).
Returning on the new record are longtime members Alan Robert (bass), Joey Z (guitar), and Sal Abruscato (drums). One of the perhaps more obvious differences in Life Of Agony is vocalist Mina Caputo, the name taken by vocalist Keith Caputo who announced being Transgender in 2011. Mina’s vocals are as spot on as they have ever been and with the new era of L.O.A. burgeoning now in 2017, will definitely appeal to longtime fans of the bands’ as well as new ones.
Life Of Agony will embark an a round of tour dates beginning near the end of this month. Upcoming dates and locations are listed below along with the band’s earlier video for the title track of the new album, ‘A Place Where There’s No More Pain‘.

Swedish hard rock/glam band Crazy Lixx are keeping the content of the 1980’s alive and well in every way possible. From the sound of that era’s music, to the looks and imagery of it as well, Crazy Lixx are here to remind us what was and can be again. The biggest reminder of all will come in the form of their new album, ‘Ruff Justice‘, which is due on April 21st via Frontiers Music SRL.
To assist in that memory-jarring endeavor, Crazy Lixx are premiering a new official video for the track ‘Wild Child‘ off of the album too. It follows the previously shared audio-only streams of ‘XIII‘ and ‘Snakes In Paradise‘. If you are a fan of that bygone era of music or hell, just a fan of feel-good rock ‘n roll either one you will dig this. Check it out!

One of Sweden’s most popular power metal bands, Dream Evil, has returned after a seven year hiatus with several new offerings. They begin first with the news of their long-awaited new studio album, ‘Six‘, which will be released on May 26th via Century Media Records. The new album was recorded and produced by guitarist Fredrik Nordström, or as he is known in Dream Evil, “Ritchie Rainbow“.
Along with this most welcome news also comes both a new official video from Dream Evil, interestingly enough, titled ‘Dream Evil‘ and an album announcement trailer. You can see both streaming below while pre-orders for ‘Six‘ are available here. Continue reading…
